About Me

Integrative Grief Guide. Writer. Teacher.

Grief touches so many aspects of our lives—illness, death, significant life transitions. Over the past thirty years, I’ve encountered these experiences, with grief at the heart of them all.

I lost my brother, Rollo, to suicide when I was 23-years-old. We were so close, and my life was turned upside down. Like so many others who experience this type of loss, I never imagined that suicide would be part of my story. Our family was devastated and forever changed. My brother, Scott, never recovered and died by suicide six years later. Sometimes, I still can't believe it.

In the early years of my grief journey, I struggled to control my life, resisting the discomfort, pain, and overwhelming uncertainty that came with these losses. This resistance only deepened my misery. I knew I needed a different way to navigate my losses and integrate them into my life.

Over time, I slowly learned to trust life again and embrace the grieving process for what it truly is: nature’s way of guiding us through healing after loss. Recognizing that grief is here to help us has allowed me to see it as an inherent gift we all possess.

Having spent much of my life exploring a whole-human approach to navigating life, love, and loss, I’ve brought everything I’ve learned over the decades “under one roof” so that others can tap into their own inner wisdom. You can get through these dark days by reconnecting with your true nature, realigning with your own inner rhythms and seasons, and leaning on the power of community and connection.

Befriending Grief offers a whole-human approach to navigating your unique grief journey. I’d be honored to chat with you about joining me and learning together.

Certified Grief Educators complete a certificate program designed by world-renowned grief expert, David Kessler. They bring his unique methodology, tools, and decades of experience to help people navigate the challenges of grief.

Grief Educator Certification + Peer-to-Peer Support

In the fall of 2022, I lost both my mom and dad. Being their caretaker, the loss hit me deeply, and I knew I needed to approach grief differently this time compared to the loss of my brothers.

I discovered David Kessler's Grief Educator Program, and it was a revelation. Finding a method that emphasized learning and growing with others who have also experienced profound loss—known as "peer-to-peer support"—was incredibly refreshing. I’ve always found immense value in connecting with others who have endured similar losses, whether it’s through suicide, pet loss (which is very real), severe illness, or the loss of parents.

With this newfound understanding, I’ve expanded my approach to include Grief Practices that go beyond just talking about our pain. These practices are designed to help grief move through the body, mind, and spirit, allowing us to ultimately befriend the grieving process as a natural response to loss.
